M. Heck: I like to make very large batches of soup. I begin with the onions and meat diced very small. Before I'm ready to add vegetables, I half the soup base and freeze one half. I've found that freezing some vegetables (especially potatoes) makes them mushy. Buys just freezing the base, thawing it and adding vegetables then prevents that. This large scoop colander lets me get out all the meat and onion quickly and easily for dividing them into the two sets of soup base and keep the amounts equal for a better tasting soup. The quality and style are on par with my Cuisinart colander. Well made and sturdy.
snickelfritz: I love this thing !! I was surprised at the size when it arrived, but, it turned out to be just perfect. Will strain a whole batch of noodles, or veggies. And, I found I can hang it up with the other hanging utensils and it's not so large I can't do that !!!! Very pleased, will use it all the time, I know !!!!!!
Sondra G. Oravetz: I bought this to replace a round strainer with a long handle that I knocked off my pot rack one day and broke the handle loose from its weld to the bowl - groan. This new Amco is a nicely made strainer/scooper. I haven't used it to "scoop" pasta from a pan because I rarely cook that much pasta at one time. I do own larger s/s strainers but these with the handles are so much quicker to grab off the pot rack and go in the dishwasher easier because they are smaller than the over sized large s/s strainer for pasta. Nice long handle with a hole to hang from my pot rack but one tiny complaint is that the lip at the outside edge is a wee bit narrow so I have to be careful when spanning it across my one sink well (triple compartment sink) and pour off pasta and water that it doesn't slip off the s/s sink and all the pasta winds up in the sink! I guess I would have liked it to be just a tad bigger/deeper also to hold a little bit more pasta but over all I like it and would buy again.
wise shopper: It works better than I expected . I use it to strain many things. I also use it to wash fruit and vegetables. I was looking for a large colander that had a handle and this one is just fine. Not too big and not too small but just right
azog: This is a fine grinder, but it may not suit everyone's lifestyle. As a single man who lives alone, this machine is overkill for me. It's cumbersome and time consuming to use and to clean. If you are grinding a pound of coffee at a time, this is a great machine; if you are grinding for a single four-pot coffee maker, it's a little tedious. So just like other appliances, there isn't a be-all-end-all, and I'm in the process of switching to a smaller and easier to use blade grinder.
