Capcyclone: No better way to make good popcorn than this West Bend electric popcorn popper.I've never tried to melt the butter on top like the instructions say you can - but the popper itself works great. Use a quality popcorn kernel like Orville's and you will have hardly any unpopped kernels with this baby.Easy clean up - and the plug unplugs for easy storage inside the popper - and you have a perfect design. Way to go West Bend!
Carl: I purchased this because I LOVE air popcorn and quit eating microwave a few years ago. I read many of the reviews about how to make great popcorn and adjustments in the arm. First, you may need to adjust the arm. The whole thing is cheaply made. Even after reading all these great reviews and strategies for using this.I liked the idea of having popcorn made and just flipping it and using the lid as the bowl.I have two types of popcorn and tried both with recommended oil. Both left many kernels in the bottom. I went and bought premium popcorn, which did better. But this take awhile to make and you have to watch it carefully. There are still a few kernels in the bottom even with premium popcorn.I have an air popper that shoot it out and I think that one is so much better than this. It makes it quickly (faster) and I am not as afraid of fires and with this one.Final analysis:Does not pop as fast as air poppers such as presto poplite. Most generic or store popcorn doesn't pop well (you have to buy premium).Having oil in it and having the popcorn directly on the base makes it dangerous.Popcorn does not taste as good (even the good stuff).I should not have to read through a pile of reviewer comments to figure out how to use an air popper. What a waste of time!
Caroline J Ullrich: Like that makes a lot...so I can eat for several days...also is relatively easy to use...a bit large to store if you have a storage problem...
Catrine: I love the stir crazy popcorn maker. This is the second one I purchased. My last one was used to death. I recently discovered "coconut oil" and its a great way to pop corn with this popper. The flavor is awesome. I use a 1/2 c. of kernels and 1-2 T. oil. Makes a perfect batch every time. I bought many different poppers, as I do not like microwave popcorn. I got a much more expensive one and although it looked cute, it only made a small amt. It was also a real pain to clean. This is a nice size bowl. Clean up is a breeze. So easy! Do not hesitate. Use coconut oil & flavacol and you will have "Movie theater style" popcorn. They are both sold on amazon.com
C. Cooper "mt man": Very nice, not always consist when making p0pcorn, But a good price and a handy top to serve it in.
