Dwight: I was hoping to make long and narrow baguettes. This pan looks like it will make a wider loaf. On my first try, the texture turned out very well and it was not as wide as I feared. Is this frugal? no but owning this prevents me from purchasing a bread machine and keeps the dream alive that I will make proper french bread somedayWould I have purchased this used at a cheaper price off of craigslist? noDid I shop around for the best total price including the manufacturer's website? yes and so should you
Ekat: It is useful gadget for a bread lover. The quality is nice and it does not bend or reform in a hot oven. However I wish the sides were a bit higher on the outside. This way you would not need to rotate your bread and it would be baked evenly in the left and on the right since the contact with the metal would be the same on both sides
Gregg Bracke "Gregg M Bracke": These pans are very for a home use and can't hold up to commercial use in a bakery.
HRH Spider "Cats ^..^": well just made two loaves of french bread in the supposednon stick pan. forget it. had to pry the loaves off the pan with a butterknife. the dough, admittedly was sticky but hey.on the good side. the bread i salvaged did have a nicely baked crust(the side that is on the perforations.)i guess ill have to line the pan with parchment next time but then that defeats the crustiness of the perforations
Jack Jones: This pan is great. It did exactly what we wanted it to do which was to provide a taller loaf than when using just a cookie sheet. We spray the pan with oil before placing the loaves in the pan and have not had a sticking problem with 8+ loaves. We use a bread machine to prepare the dough and provide the first rise.
