Win231: I don't do any baking & I don't do much cooking either. I wanted a product like this for scraping up chopped vegetables (especially sliced onions) off a cutting board when making salads. It's easier & safer than using the chef's knife. It works very well & the grip is designed just right.
wisew: Although I had a hunch, I really never knew how much something so simple and mundane could drastically improve my cooking experience. There are just so many uses for this incredibly well-made scraper - you can use it to clean up the cutting board after you're done; you can use it to much more efficiently scoop up whatever you've chopped than you ever could with even the largest chef's knife, but with no risk of cutting yourself. It's also great for cutting dough and any cutting tasks that require blunt vertical force. The built-in ruler is also very helpful, especially for portioning or for a recipe you're trying out for the first time. The handle is soft but very grippy - just what you would expect from an OXO Good Grips tool. The blade, although nowhere near knife sharp, or even blunt knife sharp, is "sharp" enough for dough cutting and blunt force tasks, but don't expect to be using this to cut a butternut squash ever. Running my fingers along the blade does *not* result in a cut, if that gives you an idea. Although some reviewers think of this as a downside, I don't think you want your scraper to be too sharp. That would make one of its greatest uses, scooping up chopped food, a lot harder, because you'd be pushing a sharp blade against your hand to scoop things up, and that's what your knife already does when you try to scoop things up with it. This isn't a knife replacement, so it shouldn't be sharp. This single tool makes both prep and clean-up substantially easier. I recommend that everyone have at least one.
W. Van Horn: It's much sturdier than I imagined and comes in handy for so many things. What an investment all kitchens should have. I can't praise this enough!
83Julieinwi: This OXO Dough cutter came with a pastry brush and cutter. The cushion hand grip makes it fit comfortably in your hand. The dough cutter is a handy item but, the brush is a must.
Ana Hotaling "saotomeranchan": I've had cheap dough blenders before, and the blades always ended out pushed out of line from the butter or from the dough itself... and they were impossible to clean! But the OXO Good Grips is fabulous... the blades don't move, so your cutting is always right on and even, and because it's so sturdy, the blending is done in no time! It cleans easily -- just toss it in the dishwasher. And the famous OXO grip makes it easy to hold and doesn't hurt your hand. Much better than cheapo dough cutters, and you'll never use the two-knife system again.
